An experienced Chairman, Executive and Non-Executive Director. Having qualified as an accountant, Suzie has built and supported many UK and International businesses (start up and public company). She is very direct and passionate in her approach, especially in enabling the potential in all people and situations. She has developed programmes and co-ordinated seminars reviewing the challenge of Social, Business and Climate Change
Suzie was instrumental in setting Embercombe up as a Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee in 2005 and for hiring the current Core Team. She works as a volunteer and is a Trustee of Embercombe. She is a Non-Executive Director of a large Canadian consulting business and mentors young entrepreneurs who have an idea or business which is making/will make a positive difference in the world.
She qualified as an accountant with Arthur Andersen in London and then set up her own business focussed on making a difference in the world of work. She built Penna from a £2m business to a £50m turnover publicly quoted company. From resourcing strategies, coaching Boards through to counselling out-placed individuals, Penna worked on an international basis to enhance the performance of the individual and the organisation. With 800 people, Penna worked with both public and private sector organisations including 75% of the FTSE 350. Suzie oversaw the compilation of the Investors in People standard and became the partner of IIP for large Corporates. She was Chief Executive and Chairman between 1986 and 2005.
Married with two children, Suzie has also been involved in setting up businesses and mentoring new businesses as part of the Princes Trust and Start Up (a charity involved in supporting ex offenders) and as a governor at the local school.
She also farms Alpacas.
