Art Outreach

A fantastic opportunity to bring your new year group together to work on a joint project for your school. The outreach team at Embercombe specialise in creating art installations with children of all ages, these messy art projects enable children to express themselves by creating a lasting artwork that both they and the school can be proud of.

Case Study: Teignmouth Community School, July 2012

Following the success of the 2011 construction of a cob sea monster, the children were once again assisted by the Embercombe Outreach Team to create the second installation in their ‘ocean’ garden. The giant octopus was made out of local cob surrounding a wire frame.

The 3 days brought together 160 children from the new Year 7 intake, all of whom got stuck into the mud and helped make this amazing sculpture.

Garden Force Outreach

Working with teachers and children our team can design a garden that suits your schools needs. This design will reflect how much time will be needed to develop and most importantly, maintain your garden. Together we will then build a beautiful and productive garden that compliments your school and your children’s learning.

Case Study: Chudleigh Primary School, 2012

300 children, 2 days, 1 garden ... Although hampered by rain, work began in late April to turn areas of Chudleigh School into an edible garden. A big Embercombe Garden Force team worked with over 300 children from years 1 to 6 to begin the transformation, creating raised beds fanning out in the shape of sun rays to house vegetables.

Pentagonal beds containing herbs and flowers were also constructed to become the school’s new sensory garden. Together the children and the garden force team also managed to create a new composting system with the construction of brand new compost bays.

The summer term saw abundant growth, so much so that the children could harvest and sell produce to parents from the school gate generating income to plough back into the gardens for next year. Well done Chudleigh Primary School!
