Stone Soup – a rare and much sought after recipe
Half day visit, key stage 1, 2 and 3 
This wonderful morning or afternoon is based around the tale of Stone Soup and how it was made. Embercombe staff turn into real live characters from the tale and set the scene with a bubbling pot on a roaring fire.
The children explore the abundant gardens of Embercombe learning about and harvesting the ingredients they decide would make a delicious soup. The next task is for them to prepare their vegetables together and finally add them to the bubbling pot as part of the performance of Stone Soup.
Whilst the soup is simmering the children have the chance to adventure in the woods, engaging in a variety of woodland activities.
When the soup is ready they sit around the fire eating their own delicious version of Stone Soup and listening to how the story ended.

Wild Pizza – our organic and free range pizza
Half day visit, key stage 1, 2 and 3
Not exactly fast food - butdefinitely worth it. The ingredients for the magnificent “Wild Pizza” are all growing somewhere on the lands of Embercombe waiting to be discovered by inquisitive eyes.
Ingredients:
For the base: the children visit the wheat field to see how it grows, they grind wheat grain into flour, sieve the flour and make the dough.
For the topping: they explore the vegetable gardens, harvest their favourite toppings, wash and chop them into topping sized pieces.

Preparation:
Collect and chop firewood and build fires in the outdoor clay ovens.
Roll the dough into pizza bases, cover them with delicious toppings and cook in the preheated oven for a few minutes.
All with the constant supervision of Embercombe’s staff
Lunch is of course their own delicious and truly individual “Wild Pizza”.
