The 5 day residential Catalyst programme

Catalyst is an experiential course, and the topic is YOU and some of the greatest social and environmental challenges of our time. Don’t expect powerpoints or lectures – the programme is a journey of exploration, full of workshops and challenges, other young people who are passionate about making a difference, bonfires and living in cozy yurts with woodstoves.

Practically speaking, what will you do at Catalyst? You will have the opportunity to:

    • Take part in courageous conversations, eye-opening discussions, and workshops;
    • Spend time with a personal coach and mentor;
    • Experience a more sustainable way of life, work and reflect in our organic market garden;
    • Meet people who are engaged in working for a more beautiful world;
    • Have the time, space, and creative outlet to engage with questions such as “What will I do with my one wild and precious life?” and “How can I make a difference?”
    • Also to sit around campfires; listen to or play music; and engage in the expressive arts;
    • Have a structured space for contemplation and reflection;
    • Listening to inspiring talks.

Programme Dates for 2010:

5-10 April; 4-9 July; 19-24 September (tbc)

“A life changing, wonderful experience that you will never forget!” Emma Mether

"A wonderful and unexpected experience. Amazing to feel so relaxed with people I only met 5 days ago – The personal development work was such an eye-opener, and very necessary in this day and age. […] I learned an immense amount.” Rosa Bloomberg

“I think the catalyst programme embodies a process that every single human should experience” Charlie Stephenson

Isobelle Bidwell, Catalyst June 2009

“I felt the care and support of Embercombe's staff and facilitators at each step along the way, and gained a sense of clarity and purpose that was both surprising and exciting.” Alex Michelsen

“The most powerful thing during the programme for me has been allowing myself time to sit, be still and think, reflecting on myself and my journey. Time by myself and sharing with the group has given me time to really focus on my challenges, talents, beliefs and actions, which has been hard going at times but immensely rewarding”
